Signs of a misfire
- Shaking or stumbling at idle or under load
- Flashing check engine light
- Loss of power when accelerating
- Worse gas mileage
- A raw fuel smell from the exhaust
How we find the cause
We read the misfire codes to find the cylinder, then swap and test parts to confirm whether it's the coil, the plug or the injector. That way you pay for the part that failed, not all three.
Plugs and coils together?
If your spark plugs are due, replacing them while the coils are out saves labor. We'll tell you if they're worn and let you decide.

Questions
Can I keep driving with a misfire?
Not for long. A flashing check engine light means unburned fuel is reaching the catalytic converter, which can damage it. Ease off and call.
Do I need to replace all the coils?
Usually only the failed one. On older, high-mileage cars it can make sense to do them all, and we'll explain the trade-off.
