Signs of a bad CV axle
- Clicking or popping during tight turns
- Grease sprayed on the inside of the wheel
- Vibration that gets worse with speed
- A clunk when shifting into drive or reverse
Torn boots
A CV joint lives inside a rubber boot packed with grease. Once the boot tears, dirt gets in and the joint wears out. If you catch a torn boot early, replacing the axle before it clicks avoids getting stranded.
On-site replacement
Most CV axles can be swapped on a flat driveway or parking spot in a couple of hours. We'll check the other side and the suspension while we're there.

Questions
How long can I drive with a clicking CV axle?
It can last a while, but it can also fail suddenly and leave the car unable to move. Don't wait too long.
Do I need an alignment after?
Usually not for an axle alone. If other suspension parts are replaced, we'll let you know.
