Ignition Switch

Key won't turn? Ignition switch repair where you're parked.

A worn ignition switch can leave you stuck with a key that won't turn, a car that won't crank, or a dash that cuts out while driving. We diagnose it and replace it on-site.

Signs of a bad ignition switch

  • Key won't turn, or turns but nothing happens
  • Dash lights flicker or cut out when you touch the key
  • Car stalls while driving for no clear reason
  • Starts only after jiggling the key

Switch, cylinder or key?

A worn key, a worn lock cylinder and a failed electrical switch can all feel the same. We test which part failed. Many Hondas and other common models can be fixed on-site the same day.

Keys and immobilizers

Some newer cars need the key or immobilizer reprogrammed after the repair. If yours does, we'll tell you before we start so there are no surprises.

Questions

Can you fix it if I can't turn the key at all?

Often, yes. Call and describe what's happening and we'll tell you what to expect.

Will my old key still work?

On many cars, yes. Some need a new key or reprogramming, and we'll confirm that up front.
